PMP® Certification Exam Application Process

The Project Management Professional PMP® program is under the control and jurisdiction of the Project Management Institute(PMI) organization. Perspective should follow this process in order to apply for the PMI-PMP certification

1. Register as a member of the Project Management Institute at www.pmi.org. We recommend registering for both the basic membership as well as your local chapter. The Exam cost for members is $405.00, compared to $555.00 for non-members.
2. Complete the Online Project Management Professional PMP® Application.

• You will need to document 4,500 hours (with a 4 yr degree) to 7,500 hours (w/o degree) of experience in the Project Management Body of Knowledge domains, equal to approximately 2 1/4 to 4 years non-overlapping experience.
• A training certificate of at least 35 contact hours of Project Management training (PDU's) is required to register for the exam. If you don't have the necessary hours our PMP® Certification Exam Prep course will satisfy that requirement. We also have a pre-course self study module that provides you with the required PDU's before class, if you have the time.
• PMI may conduct reference checks as part of the periodic audit process. If you are audited, you will be notified via email.

Once you have received approval, you should schedule your PMP® Certification Exam. You should try and schedule the test within 5 days after class. You can do this online at Prometric.
